Just when I thought the corn would never grow anything except leaves, something is starting to happen. 68 days after I planted the seeds, something is growing out the top of the two tallest stalks. Is this the tassel?
Something is also growing out the bottom of the bigger stalks. It looks like roots. Is this normal, I wonder? If anyone knows what this is, please leave a comment.
I grew up amidst cornfields in the midwest yet never knew how corn grows. Where and when is the actual corn cob going to appear?! Gardening is not for the impatient.
