David took a day off and we took the kids to San Francisco.
On the way, we had to stop for a potty break near the Golden Gate National Cemetery. This is a place I have passed many times on the way to San Francisco and thought, "One day we should stop there." And today was the day.
David's great-uncle (Al's brother) died in WWII. We looked in the database and found a James Moffitt.
Wrong name and wrong birthdate, but we thought it might be a clerical error.
Later we found out his name wasn't really Jim, but Edward. He was lost at sea, and memorialized at the Wall of the Missing at North Africa American Cemetery in Carthage, Tunisia. Here is an account of what happened to his ship, the SS Paul Hamilton.

As for the rest of our trip, we took the kids to Chinatown where the two older ones each bought a wooden sword. We visited the ship display at Fisherman's Wharf.
Finally, we went to the beach. This time, no one fell in!
(Oh, I forgot my camera again, aaah!)
